In this thread I'll be telling you some of my favorite meditative techniques and any of my more wild, outlandish ones that I discover on my paths.

I'll give you a pretty basic one for tonight because I really need to go to bed and sleep. Tomorrow I'll give a quick 3 second one that just might teach you something about the world around you.

:: Conscious Life Reminder ::
I know exactly what some of you are going to say, "Why in the fuck would I ever try this? It's not even a meditation?" I'm saying this now so you understand that I understand you and you should just go on. If you ever go out and read the definition of 'Meditation' or read an introduction into a book on Meditation, you'll see that what I'm about to tell you is true. Meditation is the act of concentrating on a something and using that to focus them on a goal. That is a pretty general definition, but it is true. I've read enough books and sat through enough church services to understand the definition of this one word.
This is a great exercise that I don't have much history with because my book has been confiscated for reasons that I'm not going to taint this thread with(ask me on AIM if you really want to know). This exercise's goal is to help you breathe in consciousness so you're more capable to handle those tough decisions and oppositions we find in life. If you don't want to use this, I don't mind. It really is just a small practice that might not work for everyone.
Now, the history and teaching of other things is out of the way; let us begin.
I'm not going to go through the whole Sit-Lick-Cough thing like in the last one. Instead, I'm just going to tell you a good time to do this. You can do it whenever.
When you go to reach for a doorknob, what do you do? You turn it, duh! But, just for once, wait a second and take a deep breathe in and out, thinking about turning the knob. Most the time you won't even think about things like this; THAT'S THE WHOLE POINT! I'm here to teach you how to see the world around you in a light that is refreshing and exciting.
This practice is just a quickie-walking version of the technique underneath this. The reason I put this on top is because I gave a warning at the top to do the techniques at the bottom then work the way up.
What should you do now, after you've done your breathing and thought about turning the knob? Turn the freaking knob and go on with your life, constantly waiting to turn and thinking more. Trust me, it'll stop hurting after awhile.

:: Breathing 101 ::
This basic training meditation came unto me one day while I was watching a show on Buddhism on the Discovery Channel. It has helped me a lot and has truly worked from my perspective. I now feel quite erratic if I haven't done it in at least two days. This is a technique that I developed myself, but has also been endorsed by many others from different beliefs. As I read more into meditation, I realized this is not a new trick, but a largely used practice.
Now, let us begin the physical process and arrangements.
Sit. You can stand if you really want, but it will prove more effective if you just relax all your muscles and forget how to use your legs. Sit in anyway you like. Cris-cross your legs or do whatever. Really doesn't matter right now. Put your hands wherever for now. You just need to forget all your limbs for this exercise.
Close your eyes. Just take me at my word for this one. Before you can relieve your stress and anxieties mentally, you must first develop a thick, broadening love for the non-physical world. Later on I'll teach you some techniques I do with my eyes wide open and my body moving.
Keep your back straight. It might feel strained for a while, but that's because of your horrible, everyday posture. Don't worry, I have it too.
Now we can begin the real workings.
Most people will never think of their breathing. It is subconscious and very rarely is thought upon. But what I'm going to ask you to do is to start to really get into the thought process of... thinking. You'll be thinking for the first time in your life on something that you never had to think about. Here we go.
Imagine the air coming into you as a color. White is a good color because you're already used to it being a form of good, positive energy. Start picturing this color as your breathing; your breathing is this color; this color is your breathing. Picture it coming into your nostrils and up to your brain. Your brain can only function as long as it has oxygen. Sure it has to take a trip to the lungs first, but that can be imagined at a later level that I'll teach you later. Now, as you exhale, picture the same color flooding away from you, out into the abyss of the physical world that you're not seeing nor capable of with your eyes closed(later I'll teach you how to use your senses to bring the tangible physical world into the lucid plane of the mind.)
Repeat this last process over and over again till you find yourself lost in the thoughts and rhythm of your breathing. You might find that your everyday, stress driven, agitated life will continuously pop up in your meditation. Let your thoughts expand while you keep going with your breathing. Sooner or later you won't even notice them.
