Does anyone else write plays? How did you get into it? Who are Your favourite playwrights? Ever had you stuff performed? What kind of plays do you like/write?

I'm entranced by the theatre and the thrill you get from performing, which is something that always sucked a little, because I can't act for toffee. I never thought of writing for theatre until I went on a course for a laugh. Since then I've had my short play and a few scenes from a longer, unfinished play by professional actors (Eastenders, Casulty, Waking the Dead, Rent...).

Watching my own work was one of the most thrilling experiences I have ever had. Can you imagine it? These professional actors/directors/designers were working with MY writing...and I'm just a nobody school girl! I actually got laughed at the first time, because after getting so excited at the rehearsal I went and invited my entire facebook list.. I ended up with four rows of my people!

Both my plays are fairly comic pieces that underneath deal with serious issues. And my favourite playwright, cliched as it is, is good old Bill Shakey. A timeless genius.

I don't write plays, but I do perform in them .... and NOT just pantomimes, I'll have you know

I just get confused with all the stage directions. I prefer being able to use my description and then have a flying pig appear from thin air if I want to without worrying about how to make it

I love musicals. I also like creepy plays: anyone seen The Woman in Black? I was shaking for days after I saw that

I like plays with a strong message - recently we've been studying J B Priestley's An Inspector Calls, and I love it

I write screenplays if that counts, but they're fanfiction ("Raumpatrouille Orion" - chances are you won't know that fandom).

Other than that, I'm not really into anything theatre-wise.

I've written a couple of short skits and once or twice attempted something longer, but screen/stagewriting just isn't really my strong point. I think it's because I'm far better with description than dialogue. But no, I don't write many scripts, although I kind of wish I did.
